South of Bath, there are three lighthouses and one range, all built at the end of the 19th century, primarily to support ship building at the Bath Iron Works. The lighthouses are Doubling Point, Squirrel Point and Perkins Island and the range is Doubling Point Range front and rear lights. Just at the mouth of the Kennebec River sits the Pond Island Lighthouse and beyond that is the Seguin Lighthouse.
Seguin Island
Seguin Island and Light sits 2 1/2 miles off from Popham Beach. Now a wild life reserve, a number of ghostly tales had arisen since the lighthouse was first lit in the late 18th century. Here is one tale:
